SECOND WEEK IN COLOGNE
9.3.2026
Monday, my "weekend" started. It feels kind of strange to work on the weekends, since Miksu and Saga aren't. We just have to try to plan around our schedules to find free time to explore the city. We plan on going around museums and checking out Flora, a big botanical garden, in the last week, since it'll be the greenest then during our stay here. I didn't do much, just did some homework, drew, and took the day calmly.

Same thing as yesterday, though I did my first load of laundry here. We were given instructions on a sheet on where our washing machine is located. Saga and I tried figuring the whole thing out, but we did a lot of fumbling with the whole ordeal. Firstly, we couldn't find laundry detergent, so I had to pop by our nearby Aldi. Secondly, there was some mysterious liquid in the washing machine's detergent department; it turns out there's a flaw with the drainage system. Lastly, when we finally got our clothes washed, we were instructed to leave them to dry in our apartment complex's attic, which gets no light, and since it's still quite chilly out here, our clothes didn't dry too well.

I woke up with a sore throat, but I had no other symptoms, so I decided that it'd be fine to go to work. Back at work, it was a chill rainy day. There wasn't much to do, so I just helped with whatever I could. The beginning of my shift went smoothly, but after my lunch break, I felt really tired. I pushed through and helped organise some boxes that hadn't been touched for a good while. The end of my shift went by slowly, and I was glad when it ended. When I got home, I went to check on our laundry, to no one's surprise, it was still dry. I went to bed pretty early because I felt tired and off after the day.

I woke up sick, so I took the day off. I must have gotten whatever my friends had the week before. I didn't do much, tried to get some school work done, got the still-wet laundry from the attic, and laid them on the heaters to dry.

I didn't do anything remarkable, just took care of myself. Although I was starting to go a bit stir crazy spending all day just inside, sick. I think I could go back to work on Sunday, since I feel better than I did yesterday.

I still felt a bit off in the morning, so I didn't go to work. But the sick feeling passed as the day went on, and I decided to join my friends to explore the city. First, we went to a paper store named Schreibwaren Düssel in Nippes. There were so many different trinkets, like toys, fridge magnets, keychains, and craft supplies. Miksu and Saga bought some things for themselves and souvenirs to take home, but I decided to look around and plan what to buy the next time I visit. We headed back towards our apartment and decided to take a metro to Cologne's centre. We took photos outside the Cologne Cathedral, visited some interesting shops there, and walked for a while to an Asian cuisine restaurant. We had a lot of fun, and I went to bed early, since I had work the next day.15.3.2026
I went back to work that day since I wasn't ill anymore. The day felt long, even though I didn't have much to do. I did have a nice conversation with one of the coworkers and left a bag of sweet and sour hard candy as a thank you, since I would be working at the Pottery Art Café's Sültz location for the rest of the month. After my lunch break, everything went by a bit faster, and I made some pasta and sauce when I got home.
